Work­ing in radio was an amaz­ing way to acquire good speak­ing skills.

What many don’t real­ize is that you must have good writ­ing and research skills to be a good broad­caster. You must sound good, but you must also be knowl­edge­able in a vari­ety of top­ics — par­tic­u­larly of com­mu­nity inter­est — and you must be able to write and pro­duce com­mer­cial and PSA copy, as well as enter­tain­ment copy for shows.
